Dear members,

We have had a fairly slow start to the season but are now gearing up for a number of exciting summer events. The full itinerary is posted on the clubhouse wallchart and on the website.

Talking of the clubhouse we now have the new windows installed and looking very smart. As soon as the parking area is finally cleared (boats and trailers), and as soon as an excavator can be secured the area will be reinstated to provide improved parking and make good the January storm damage.

 Events of note are:

bulletSummer Isles Regatta 30/31 July – As per the enclosed flyer.
bulletSailing in the city 19/20 August – Two day event run by a team of RYA instructors and sponsored by Invisible Heating with the aim of offering introductory sailing to: on Friday, senior primary and secondary school pupils and, on Saturday, to club members and friends. The club hope to run a barbeque on both days.
bulletUllapool regatta 27/28 August – format as before with racing on Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday. Details to be announced later.

The regular Pico sessions have been well attended by a dedicated number of children along with the occasional adult and a rota of helpers. Can all those who have still to pay please make sure that they do so.

There has been a fairly regular weekend procession of flying fifteens with some very competitive racing. It is hoped to extend this to midweek sessions. The new system of racing teams seems to work well and the boats are all in much better shape. If you are interested in joining one of the teams you should contact one of the team leaders.

bulletRed – Donald or John
bulletBlue – Sandy or Paul
bulletYellow – Robin or Robert

Cruise boats, Seonaid, Eilan Dubh, and Twister had an enjoyable cruise to the Faroe islands over the midsummer week and the next planned cruise is to attend the Stornoway festival of music and sail on the 14-17 July.

Good sailing and may your jib set well.

Regards,

 Sandy Osborne
